Meet Darah Skean, MA & LPC
I'm so excited to start this journey with you! I have a passion for helping clients who are inclined toward creativity and want a life that aligns with their values. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who offers a variety of interventions since I believe that therapy is not a "one size fits all." Throughout the last six years I've worked in different settings as a traditional talk therapist and found that sometimes healing for our souls comes from outside the clinical space. I founded Juniper and Grit while becoming a facilitator at Wild Hearts Equine Therapy and observing the healing connection between horses and humans. By spending time in the pastures at Wild Hearts I began to recognize just how deeply aligned I felt and how I became in tune to living in the present moment. I hope to offer a similar immersive experience to clients through a variety of creative techniques whether that be with expressive arts, mindfulness, values work, somatic techniques, or equine therapy—the options are endless!
My coaching philosophy is person-centered and trauma-informed, which emphasizes unconditional kindness towards ourselves, recognizing how mental health impacts both our minds and bodies. My goal is to support clients' healing through a wide range of modalities which include poetry, visual art, equine therapy, somatic work, and mindfulness toward nature. I hope to grow alongside clients who are open-minded and ready to discover their higher selves.
Counseling and Coaching Philosophies
Person Centered Approach
The belief that all of us are growing and can take steps toward who we want to become. It is never too late to gain self-awareness and shift our paths.
Trauma Informed Lens
Together we will build a foundation of trust and safety before delving into what you have experienced. As the therapeutic relationship is built, we will take steps toward healing.
Unconditional Compassion
Let's slow down the process and become further in tune with who we are. We will take the time to listen to what what we need in the moment, practice a sense of gentleness, and seek to understand the core ofourselves.
Curiosity and Creativity
When we remain curious and creative in our approach to healing, we gain new perspectives. In our time together we'll ask the hard questions, explore different opportunities, and see what emerges.
Let's Talk
Sometimes the hardest part of healing is taking the first step and reaching out. Let's find time to connect and see if my approach to coaching is a good fit for you!
